Less is More in Skincare: Minimalist Skincare for Healthier Skin

We are all too used to seeing skincare products with a long list of ingredients, which causes some people to think that the more ingredients a product has, the better it is. However, while this may be true for some products, it might not be true for all. Find out why in this blog post from Vogue!

We all know that the point of skincare is to protect and nourish our skin, but it’s not always clear what’s best. In this article from Vogue, we learn about a new trend emerging in skincare: minimalist skincare. Is over-cleansing, over-exfoliating and overindulging our skin the way to go or should we be extremely attentive to what we put on our skin, especially after 40 years old?

I have always used the saying, “less is more.”  I read recently that it takes only eight secs for the skin to absorb chemicals that can be harmful to your well-being and health. These chemicals as for example, parabens, silicones, and polyethylene glycols (PEG)s.

I feel, just like the food we eat that can help or harm us. If we keep our food natural and simple, then that is the best for us. We are all aware of the downside of processed food. People say you are what you eat.

Skin care has parallels with the above. Your skins will be how you treat it and what you feed it with

We are of course proud our N8 Face Oil has only 4 ingredients.

Our face oil is made from pure plant extracts, vegan-friendly, and sustainably sourced base organic oil from a small UK supplier.

The fundamental joy of keeping things clean, minimal and as simple as possible is unfounded – just look at Marie Kondo for proof – but what if opting for skincare products made with minimal ingredients also offered our skin that same level of joy? “As a dermatologist, I always tell my patients to keep it simple,” says consultant dermatologist Dr Justine Hextall, “A common issue I see in clinic is over-complicated skin regimens that leave skin irritated and dry. Looking for products that utilise fewer ingredients can help reduce sensitisation and allergy.”
